Later known as Lindley Wesley Methodist Church. Now known as Lindley Methodist Church.

The first Methodist services were held in Lindley c1770.

Joshua Dyson's house in West Street was licensed for preaching in 1773.

A chapel was built in East Street in 1795 and a Sunday School was established in 1815.

Between 1867-1868 a new chapel was built next door to the old one and from 1868 the old chapel was used as a Sunday School; this was enlarged in 1889.

Between 1895-1896 the chapel was enlarged and this consisted of a chancel designed by the well-known architect Edgar Wood.

In 1960 the church amalgamated with Lindley Zion and Lindley Thorncliffe Street churches to form Lindley Methodist Church, using premises in East Street for the church and premises in Lidget Street for the Sunday School.

The Sunday School building in East Street was let to Lindley Church of England School between 1960-1963; the Sunday School in East Street was refurbished and re-opened in 1972. The Sunday School in Lidget Street then closed and the chapel was altered internally at the same date.

The church is still in existence in 2009.

Records relating to this church can be found at the West Yorkshire Archive Service: Kirklees under the reference numbers WYK83, WYK83.2, WYK83.3.
