Littletown Wesleyan Methodist Church
The following source list was originally available only on paper in one of the West Yorkshire Archive Service offices. It may have been compiled many years ago and could be out of date. It was designed to act as a signpost to records of interest on a particular historical subject, but may relate only to one West Yorkshire district, or be an incomplete list of sources available. This church was established c1840 under the leadership of Joel Allatt (d 1841); he held a Sunday School in 'an old chamber'.
In 1844 a chapel was built on the south side of Bradford Road just above Knowler Hill.
In 1851 nearly all the congregation left to become Wesleyan Reformers. The church closed in 1852 because too few members had remained Wesleyans for the congregation to continue in existence.
The chapel building was sold to the Wesleyan Reformers in 1852.
